Opposition grows against plans to test four-year-olds

The government’s plans for assessment in reception classes have been dealt another blow. Thirteen organisations were briefed on the roll-out but only one tendered for the project. As the British Educational Research Association concluded, the plans — which will cost £10 million to introduce — are “flawed, unjustified and totally unfit for purpose”.
